Honestly, me and my wife were pretty bothered by previous bedbug posts but it seems it's different for each unit I guess.

I haven't found any sign of bedbugs but I try to make sure to minimize the possibility by regularly spraying pretty much everywhere and sealing the cracks and holes in the unit, not to mention using bunch of gadgets to keep my unit clean. still, I did find some signs of cockroaches but it's within the understandable boundary - I'm just somewhat used to this kind of situation I guess.

oh, and there're some drunk people hanging around in the lobby but securities are doing descent job to keep them away so I don't feel much of safety issue.

however, a few things I was extremely bothered were,

    1) there's no sign of cleaning or whatsoever at the time of move-in. Ivan told me superintendent was off, then on vacation on next day. I might be wrong but during my 10 years of renting the apartment in various cities like NYC, LA, Boston, Memphis and Vancouver, I've never experienced this. as a result, old lights, cables and some papers to cover the paint jobs are still outside of my balcony, not to mention some of the doors for built-in closets and screen door are not working properly. In addition, handy work for this unit was done very poorly, several holes on ceiling, inside of cabinets, none of the pipe was sealed properly and majority of the cabinet doors don't close. by the way, building itself is not straight but also the kitchen top and sink. management didn't even do the move-in inspection, while me and my wife asked them for couple of times though.

    2) fan in the kitchen is located over fridge while stove is located on other side. I don't see any heater or radiator and I'm still wondering how I'm going to put A/C. Cleaning up the balcony is pain in the ass and swimming pool gets dirty time to time. basically, you might not be able to experience or enjoy all the facilities in this building, although they are on ads.

    3) Ivan told me this building is pet-friendly and I saw many other tenants who has a pet but rental paper says 'no pet'. some of the terms and conditions are not clear and different from reality.

    4) my truck is slightly taller than others, I didn't tune it up but it's made that way. however, every time I went into underground parking, I get a little bit of scratch from the entrance. funny how they missed the clearance sign, I wonder whether parking company will reimburse if there's some heavy damage because of ceiling.

    5) there was no hot water past couple of days without any notice. seems management company or superintendent is not doing one's job well, I think they just don't pay much of attention on tenants.

    6) if you think renting this place is cheap, that's only partially true. Amount I'm paying now is good enough for renting the condo nearby or at least, better, newer building. parking was quite expensive:(

frankly, it's my fault. I should have researched more, or at least googled the address. I don't like this place, I don't think I'd renew the contract either. there was a gentleman who stopped by my unit to get a signature and told me management company raises the rent more than they are allowed to, which is illegal.

anyways, I'd never recommend this place personally to anyone else.

  • decent place and price....useless management!

the first week was a nightmare....toilet didn't flush, screen door was broken and left on balcony, NOTHING WAS CLEANED!

I mean nothing...the floors, the balcony had tons of garbage from last tenants..bathroom was filthy....and this is the BEST PART.......are you ready? When we complained about the mess they handed us a basket of cleaning products and told us it was a "welcoming gift!"

Then all of a sudden something was burning in our outlet where the fridge is and it smelled like twenty dead skunks on fire....it took three days for a new fridge because the super had his days off!

Nothing terrible has happened since then but it was the worst moving in experience ever.

Bottom line, they are worse than the movers cuz once you sign that contract they clearly don't give a flying F@ck

I'm appalled by all the bullshit stories on this site. We've lived here for 2 years and have had no problems. No bed bugs. Creepy people/bums? You've got to be kidding me... you're living in TORONTO! If you want to live in suburbia then this isn't the city for you. This building is NOT SUBSIDIZED, all the tenants on my floor are regular people, mainly students aged 24-30 or families with kids. No issues with tenants in the building. This building is quite upscale when compared to everywhere nearby, Toronto is full of shady buildings. 77 Huntley has loads of families and really friendly tenants, theres security at night so you're safe.

My only complaints are a) the elevators seem to always be in service or out of order. Sometimes only 2 of 4 are working, which can cause you to have to wait a while. If you're leaving to go to school leave 5-10 min early incase you get stuck waiting. Especially if someone is moving in. b) the landlords and those working in the office I find to not be of much help. They are friendly to your face, but if you ask to get something done it usually doesn't get done unless you bug them day after day. There is a 24/7 help support number you can call for maintenance help in the building (emergencies) I suggest calling that instead of going to the office downstairs. Better, quicker help!

I highly suggest doing your research before reading stupid sites like this. If you think I'm some sales person trying to post positive reviews then don't believe me... go to the building and ask tenants yourself. There's 800 people in the building, and only a handful of b/s stories on here which appear to be posted on other buildings as well (only 5 reviews posted this year... 3 of them are fake.. 2 are positive and real). If you speak to real people actually living in the building you'll see what it's really like... don't trust anonymous postings here trying to scare you away. I bet they are landlords at the other buildings in Toronto trying to steal business. I mean.. come on.

    REPLIES TO THE FAKE REVIEWS:

@Kal: That's interesting... I've never had the alarms going off on a 'daily' basis. What shit are you trying to pull here? There is a monthly fire alarm test that only takes max 5 minutes. They come on the PA system, tell you it's going to happen, then you hear it for a minute and it stops and the test is over. There's only ONE TIME I can recall the alarm go off during a time that wasn't scheduled and that was back in September '09 - everyone exited the building, fire trucks came, and they left within 10 minutes cause it was a false alarm. So I dunno what building you're living in, but it ain't 77 huntley. As for roaches, we've never had any. Maybe you should keep your kitchen clean and not dirty? Idiot.

@Mimi: Wow, what a horror story. I've seen this posted around multiple times in the same CAPS LETTERING. You clearly are just posting horror stories on different buildings. Lets disprove your bullshit shall we? First off... bums and creepers getting into the building? Ok... so first of all the 'mall' is connected to the building, but you can't just walk in from the mall into the building, it's protected by a door with a key. So bums can't just walk in. But say they DO get in (some idiot holds the door for them)... you CLAIM they get into the POOL and into the LAUNDRY ROOM? That's strange, BOTH of those require you use your key again to get anywhere near them. The laundry room floor HAS security cameras on it as well. The pool you can't get into unless you have a key to get into the change room too. Everything is locked. So somehow a bum comes off the street, sneaks in behind someone, goes in the elevator with no one noticing, then follows a person directly into the change room of the pool and into the pool area without tipping anyone off till it's too late? People would call security and he'd be kicked out. So shut the fu*k up. I'm sick of all these horror stories about this place, get a life and stop posting shit about buildings you know nothing about.

  • Bugs

    2010-03-25

The first 6 months at 77 Huntley St were awesome. My roommate and I were skeptical of moving in because of the horror stories we heard, but we scoped out the place quite a bit (i.e. hanging out in the lobby to get a feel for things), and decided to move in anyway. We have a beautiful unit with a great view, and the building is close to all amenities. Splitting on the rent of $1420 per month worked well for both of our budgets.

However; it soon became apparent that there certainly are some sketchy people living here. People passed out in the elevator; belligerent drunks stumbling around the lobby and elevators, getting up in your face; general weirdos/cracked out people trying to make small talk with you. Our neighbours across the hall from us have angry, vulgar screaming matches with each other on a regular basis, oftentimes right in the hall. The last fight they had, my roommate and I literally had to walk through to get to the elevator, and we also took note that they smelled like stale piss.

Also, although it has subsided (for now), the first few months we were here we were subject to the fire alarm going off multiple times a day and night, for 10-20 minutes at a time.

And now... now the bugs. Two weeks ago my roommate and I both noticed red bites on ourselves when we woke up in the morning. A trip to the doctor confirmed that they were indeed bed bug bites. Management is good at arranging quick, free, fumigations, which eases the mind of someone being eaten alive at night, but should speak volumes to people considering moving here: obviously this is a consistent, frequent problem if management doesn't bat an eye or ask any questions when a tenant demands next-day fumigation.

We bagged up all of our clothing & bedding, moved all of our furniture into the middle of our bedrooms & living room, have spent well over $100 between the two of us washing all of our bedding and clothing in Huntley's teeny-tiny washing machines. We aren't supposed to take our clothes & bedding out of the garbage bags we put them in for TWO weeks (which we were not told about ahead of time). And then we might need to do that all again should the bugs persist.

AND THEN. The cockroaches in the kitchen. We did not realize they were roaches at first. The entire time we've lived here, we noticed an odd kind of bug lurking around, but they were quite small and few in numbers. We thought nothing of it, and whacked them all with rolled up magazines whenever we came across one. Well, I guess we didn't get all that we saw, and they bred, and they got bigger, finally to the point where our magazine-whacking skills were no match for these quick, resilient pests. The kitchen-exterminator guy just left our unit after powdering and gelling our kitchen cabinets, as well as confirming that these bugs are indeed roaches.

Regardless of what your perception of the building, unit & management is, I urge you that it's not worth the risk!! We thought this stuff couldn't happen to us, and now it's just one thing after another. I've yet to have clothing stolen from the laundry room, but the way things have been going lately, I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

Finally, to the person who says that living in the big bad city you should come to expect sketchy people and bugs, I say you need to adjust your standards. I have been a resident of Toronto for 7 years, and only since living at Huntley have I been exposed to these horrors. My previous high-rise apartment living situation was a dream come true, even more so in retrospect and after experiencing this place. My old building in the Annex is a little more expensive, but in a much nicer neighbourhood, no sketchies, and best of all no bugs!! So obviously, clean, bug-free city living is possible - just not at 77 Huntley.

    PLEASE PLEASE READ THIS!!!!
77 HUNTLEY ST IS A TOTAL NIGHTMARE!! I WISH I HAD TALKED TO PEOPLE BEFORE I MOVED IN THERE. THE BEDBUG STORIES ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TRUE!!! YOU WILL ALSO HAVE "ROACH"MATES. I SAW OTHER COMMENTS ON THIS SITE FROM OTHER PEOPLE AND THE NOTE ABOUT YOUR LAUNDRY BEING STOLEN IS ALSO TRUE. BUT YOU HAVE 2 CHOICES. STAY WITH YOUR LAUNDRY AND RISK BEING IN THE LAUNDRY ROOM ALONE IN THE BASEMENT WITH NO SECURITY CAMERAS WHEN THE SKETCHYS SHOW UP. OR LEAVE YOUR LAUNDRY UNATTENDED AND HAVE THE SKETCHYS STEAL IT!!
I'VE BEEN FOLLOWED INTO THE ELEVATOR BY SKETCHY PEOPLE THAT HANG AROUND THE LOBBY WHICH IS ALSO A MALL. I WAS EXTREMELY SCARED. ONE OF THE SELLING POINTS THEY TELL YOU WHEN YOU LOOK AT A PLACE, IS THE ROOF TOP POOL. TOO BAD IT'S ALWAYS CLOSED FOR MAINTENANCE BECAUSE THE SKETCHYS SNEAK INTO THE BUILDING AND USE THE SHOWERS OR POO IN THE POOL!!!! I HATE THE FACT THAT EVERYTHING I HAVE WORKED SO HARD FOR IS RUINED BECAUSE OF THIS PLACE. I CAN'T TAKE MY FURNITURE... MY CHRISTMAS TREE... BOXES OF DECORATIONS... ANYTHING....WITH ME WHEN I MOVE CAUSE I KNOW I'LL BE BRINGING ALL THE BUGS WITH ME.
PLEASE DO NOT MOVE INTO THIS BUILDING!!!! TRUST ME!!!!!

When reading previous reviews of 77 Huntley, I noticed many reviewers did not separate “living in the city” problems from “building” problems. Bed bugs and “tenants with character” are the charm of living in the city. If you want to live in the big bad city, get used to it.

77 Huntley is a good building in a great location. It is attached to a mall with a pharmacy, restaurants, doctors, etc. It is very close to Sherbourne subway station. Some units, including mine, have amazing views. I have been happy here for over ten years.

Things like bed bugs, and tenants that look a little dubious, are part of living in the city. I hear about bed bugs, but I vacuum regularly, and generally keep my apartment clean, and thus do not have any problems.

If you are going to live in the city, you have to accept many types of people, some with more character than others. If you have self confidence, these people will not bother you.

Regarding safety at 77 Huntley, over the past ten years that I have been in this building, the management has been very good at targeting illegal activity, and removing it. Remember, they have to do this within the law, so it’s not easy for management. This is a living in the city problem, not something particular to this building. Not too far from 77 Huntley is a VERY expensive condo, very fancy, and very full of hookers. If you are a country mouse, don’t move to the city. You will not be able to avoid city issues, no matter how much money you spend.

But, if you want to live an urban lifestyle, in a great city location, 77 Huntley is a great place to do that.

I recently rented an apartment at 77 Huntley, mainly because the rental agent Ivan was a perfect "salesman", spent a lot of time with me showing all building amenities and describing the place as my perfect choice. I am happy with the unit, the services and the safety. I highly recommend the building.

I hadn't been on here in awhile so I decided to check to see if the building had improved. OBVIOUSLY NOT!!!!

And to clarify matters, BED BUGS was spray painted all over my balcony because my unit was TOTALLY infested! The building is gross. GROSS GROSS GROSS. Any person on here with a "good" review is working for management. Toronto Star did a bed bug article and rated the top 5 worst buildings in Toronto and guess who made the list? YES! 77 Huntley. Surprise Surprise. How would you feel if your family was waking up covered in bites every day? I threw out more furniture and more of my belongings from living in that building. Notice I only stayed there 7-8 months???? Isn't a lease for ONE YEAR??? The management let me leave because I was warning people and causing "problems" by trying to prevent people from going through what I had to. I left there, bought a nice condo and pray to God I don't ever ever ever have to experience anything like 77 Huntley Street again. It was HORRIBLE!!!

It's a little disconcerting to see positive reviews for this building that read like thinly veiled sales pitches to rent there. I still have scars from the bedbug bites I had to endure in the last year of my tenancy at 77 Huntley, and no, I am not the tenant who spray painted on the balcony. The peace of mind I've gained since moving out of there has been wonderful. I still live in the neighbourhood, and when I walked through the mall at 77 Huntley last weekend, the same sketchy people were still there. I very highly doubt the management have dealt with all of the very serious issues that began when CapReit took over, in particular the crime and vandalism caused by the government-subsidized crackhead tenants placed there (who the management can't admit exist), and the bug problems they brought with them. Check the website bedbugregistry.com for current tenant reports on a number of properties, not just this one. In response to the last review, Greg, do you ever take a look at the piles of furniture outside your building? Those little black spots on some of those mattresses dumped by vacating tenants sure look like blood residue from bug bites to me.

I have read several of the reviews on here. The negative ones are not completely accurate. New managment officials took over about 9 months ago, since that time the building has been going through a complete renovation floor by floor. They recently spent a great deal of money rehabing the balconies which are huge and look very nice now. Each floor is receiving new carpet in the hall ways and fresh paint. Apartments are being completely updated as old tenants are moving out. One has to remember that there are over 500 units in this building, it is impossible to please 100% of the people 100% of the time. As far as the bedbugs. Basically, I have never bought into the rumor that it was such a problem here. I never had an issue with bed bugs or insects other than some ants that the management company promptly sent in an exterminator to take care of. The bed bugs were more of an bad rumor spread by an unhappy resident, the same person that spray painted "bed bugs" all over the outside of their balcony. As we all know, good news travels fast....bad news travels at light speed. I think that some people got bed bugs in their head and could not let go of it. If you convince yourself that your legs are itching, they are going to itch...bugs or not. Regardless of that, if there were ever bed bugs here, they have been irradicated because people are not talking about them anymore. So, if you want a nice place to live that is in a GREAT location and is reasonably priced...this is it!

I was really nervous about moving in here because of the poor reviews but I have honestly had only positive experiences since moving in.

The apartment: I live in one of the large bachelors and feel like I have more space than I know what to do with... which is a really nice change. Lots of storage space. It was nice and clean when I moved in. Huge balcony, nice west-facing view. I've also got a dish washer but I'm just one person so I only use it as a drying rack to save counter space. The problem I had moving in was the toilet... doesn't work so well. It's use-able just a lot of work on my part. I'm sure I will be able to get maintenance to fix it but I have been extremely busy and haven't been able to ask about it yet. Good water pressure in the shower.

The residents: Helpful and friendly. I've asked a few people how they like living here and I haven't heard any complaints yet. A variety of people: students, professionals, families, elderly people, everyone in between. I would also say this is a very gay-friendly building. And there are lots of adorable puppy dogs coming and going.

The location: It's good! NOT "sketchy" and it is close to everything. I love it. Walking distance to the Church/Wellesley Village, The Annex, Yorkville, The Danforth, etc. I really love how close it is to the subway station. I work nights and if the subways are still running when I finish, I don't bother getting a cab and feel safe walking to the apartment from Sherbourne station, which has a Timothy's Coffee conveniently located right above it. That's going to be an important stop on my way to school. There are two security guards at night who are very nice and sweet. Oh and the stores downstairs... not your prime shopping location, but the drug store and post-office are so nice to have so close when you need them.

The rumours: So far I haven't seen any bedbugs, cockroaches, crack-heads or poops floating in the pool. It feels like a safe building to me. People who say that this building is the worst thing that has ever happened to them must have been raised in a chateau with 24/7 butler service. I don't really know where all these drastic claims are coming from. I don't deny that there might be bugs in some apartments, but I haven't seen any and neither have a lot of people living here who I've spoken to.

This is a nice, average building in a fabulous location and (other than my slow-flushing toilet) I don't have any complaints. Nobody's paying me to say this or anything, I just don't want nice people like me to be afraid of moving in. Don't worry -- it's fine! :-)

The apartments here are horribly small and over priced BIG TIME. The laundry room is supposed to be 24/7 according to management but at any time they feel like closing it early for whatever reason, they will even if your stuff is still in there (and they don't give warning). They have entered my apartment twice without notification and the one time I was undressed and instead of closing the door and waiting for me to get dressed, he just started talking like nothing was wrong. They are slow to deal with any problems/issues tenants may have but if you are seconds late on rent they are very quick to issue you a notice. The stores down in the "mall" are convenient but Saks Market is full of creepers that work there and don't understand the word "No" or "I'm not interested". Overall, I wouldn't tell anyone to consider an apartment in this building.

I saw an apartment in 77 huntley street building and it was the worst thing that happened to me: PLEASE READ BELOW. I am just a university student looking for a bachelors apartment and liked the building because of its location. ITS A NIGHTMARE: PLEASE, PLEASE read below before taking an apartment in the building.

Ivan showed me the apartment and told me if i took it on the spot, he'd give me 10$ of my rent for the whole year.

I asked if there were any problems with bebugs or cockroaches in the building and in this specific apartment and he said that there were NO reports in this building and if i were to find any bedbugs then its because i brought them with me. he said (and i quote) "this apartment has NEVER been sprayed for bedbuugs".

I immediately agreed and paid my deposit (almost 1000$) for first months rent. I was all happy....UNTIL, i searched the reviews online telling me this place was infested with bedbugs. SO i did what any normal person would do... I went and knocked on the tenants door to ask her. She told me her apartment was INFESTED with bedbugs and cockroaches and that she's been bit many times and her cat was also suffering. the apartment had been sprayed SEVERAL times in the past and management refused to do anything about it and said it was her fault.

They stole my deposit, and im still after them as we speak to try and get it back. I'm glad i found out now before i moved it.

THE MANAGEMENT TEAM IS A COMPLETE JOKE. so unprofessional and unreliable. from the many times i spoke with them, i seem to get a different answer from each person and they seem to say anything without even validating what the say (ex. telling me the apartment was never sprayed, when it was actually sprayer 3 times in the past 6 months)

First of all I should point out that Ivan who thinks this is such a great building works in the management office.

Ok so things have improved some since the last report. There are still quite a few undesirables in the building, and one tenant - no seems to know who - lets their dog pee in the elevator. Tenants still leave garbage around on the floors of the garbage rooms (instead of using the chute and recycle bins) and then seem surprised when bugs appear. The laundry is now open 24/7 but the pool is still closed too often.

Location remains excellent, and local shops are convenient. But this building needs a management team in the office who know what they are doing and how to deal with problems effectively. These guys (Ivan and Djorge) just do not have the experience or ability required for this particular site.

What this building needs is a strong tenants group to fight for our rights. The lawyer who lived on 27 was trying to start one but he moved out before he could get it going. Come on people. Get organized and take back OUR building!

77 Huntley used to be a nice building; before Capreit took over the management of it. It is now literally, hell on earth.
The problems began when they started moving in their government-subsidized crackhead tenants, which they will not disclose exist at their property in the first place (even if you confront them about it). It took me a while to catch on to the fact that those homeless guys bumming money and cigarettes off me every time I entered or left my building were actually my fellow tenants.

With the mental cases, came the bedbugs, the used crackpipes on the rooftop, and the increasing violence and police presence (there was an armed robbery of the Swiss Chalet in the complex a few weeks ago). The management will lie to your face, and continues to tell prospective tenants that the building is tenanted by mostly Rogers executives (Rogers corporate office headquarters is across the street).

Somehow I doubt it was the Rogers executives who were crapping in the swimming pool (but that O Henry bar is for display purposes only).

If you are thinking about renting here, don't believe me, don't believe the management. Stop by the lobby sometime and ask the tenants entering and exiting the building if what I've described is the truth. But don't take too long, as many of the original tenants are vacating at a rate of 40 per month, and you might have to give the new tenants some cigarettes and change.

Decomposing bodies left in rooms for 10-15 days, cant open the doors or windows due to construction.

Worst team of idiot Management you have ever encountered.

non-disclosure of ontario housing mixed in with general renters, its not their job to disclose, its yours to discover.

Street people using the pool on the roof to bath.

    Prostitutes and vagrants everywhere.

Save your deposit and look around, the people and the location are not the problem, Management is.

A lot of bad things have been said about this building.
This is my first apartment and it has been decent.
First off, I have never seen a single bug in my apartment. This site had me worried, but I have had no problem, knock on wood. I check for bugs regularly and there has been nothing. Advice: don't buy any furniture or blankets second hand. Caulk the baseboards. Clean.
Second off, there is sketchy people where ever you go, especially in a city. Yes, this building does have a lot of crackheads/drunks. But never have I ever felt threatened or uncomfortable (I'm an 18yr old girl). A lot of nice people also live here.
The mall connected to the building creates a safe, lit, populated space, even if something were to go wrong.
    It's a great starter building.
Also, the location is sweet. I can see No Frills outside my window, and there is a Rexall drug store right under me. Not to mention the Swiss Chalet! And minutes from amazing shopping! And the subway is steps away.
The construction was mentioned to me, and yes it is super annoying. But if you are gone from 9 - 5 it doesn't matter. And it'll probably be done soon.
Anyways. Thats my opinion on this building.

I won't be living here for the rest of my life, but for now I am pretty thankful.

  • Bed Bugs, Cockroaches, Idiot MGMT & MORE!!!

SOOO.... 77 Huntley HAS to be the one of the worst building's in the whole city of Toronto. At first when my wife picked this building ( I was opposed to living there ) I was really not happy but when I saw the apartment I thought OK, we can try and make this work. I thought the rent was far too high for such a small unit. The bedrooms where OK in size but the living room/dining room where really bad. We had lived in cheaper places with bigger space before. Sooo, I tried to ignore the crackheads everyday hanging out in and around the building, I tried to ignore the people that smelt like they hadn't bathed in a month and I definitely tried to ignore the constant hammering, banging and machinery noise from the balconies being replaced.. (a piece of concrete fell off one so they decided to re-do the balconies before a lawsuit entailed).
Then came the bed bugs, this I could NOT ignore. We where so mad, the office yelled at my wife, made her cry which really made me upset. They told her we brought them with us, we didn't even know what bed bugs where. They did nothing to help except give her 50$ for laundry. They said they would pay for the soap but in the end wouldn't give her the money. I heard from a lot of people they had bed bugs currently or had had them in the past. We had already bought a condo and where freaking out about our furniture and what we would do if we brought them to our new nice condominium building. We threw it in the garbage to be on the safe side.
That building is FILTHY, DIRTY and DISGUSTING. I do not advise ANYONE to rent anything in that building. I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy. The MGMT (george, ivan, lana mcfarlane) are a bunch of idiots who do nothing to help. They lie to people and tell you that half the building is full of Roger's Executives and that it is a clean building.
Oh yeah, half of it is subsidized and there are a lot of addicts in the building who let their homeless buddies stay over.
Long story short: If you rent in 77 Huntley Street you are an IDIOT. Plain said, if you rent there, don't even unpack cuz when you get the bed bugs you'll just have to throw out all your stuff. OH, AND by the time you get the bed bugs you'll be missing the cockroaches so much you'll do anything to get them back and not the bed bugs.
    This building is a S**thole!!!!!!

Landlords need help in bed-bug fight
    By AMY CHUNG, SUN MEDIA

    Last Updated: 22nd November 2008, 3:58am
One landlord is appealing for more help from tenants in the battle against bed bugs.

Lindsay Goulding, a young mother who first discovered the blood-sucking critters on her son's crib in June at 77 Huntley St., and other tenants in the highrise apartment near Jarvis and Bloor St. have filed lawsuits over the plague.

Goulding, 25, is seeking $5,000 to cover three months of rent and furniture she had to toss out.

However, ResREIT, the property management company of the building, said its staff are frustrated by the pests, too, but say there's only "so much we can do."

"There has to be a co-operation between the landlord and tenant," ResREIT asset manager Mark Kenney said yesterday.

"The problem persists because some of the tenants don't prepare their apartments for spraying."

Kenney said the building is sprayed once a week, but didn't indicate if it was for prevention or to tackle problem units. "We have regular garbage collection but tenants are bringing in dumped furniture that recycle the problem," he said.

Carlo Tanucci, from Cain Pest Control, said he has visited 77 Huntley St. numerous times. "If a unit's been sprayed five times, they have to start looking into the cracks and crevices and close the gaps," Tanucci said.

check out www.bedbugregistry too. Hope my review helps someone!

I went to check this place out to rent an apartment and all I have to say is that I would rather live in a cardboard box under a bridge.
