The Christie Pits (Toronto) neighbourhood is named after Christie Pits Park which was originally called Willowvale Park. The park is full of grassed picnic areas and also has numerous sporting facilities including three baseball diamonds, basketball courts, a bocce field, a soccer field, an ice rink and a public pool. The Christie Pits community is very multicultural housing a significant Korean and Latin American community. While this area has historically been a transitional home for immigrants upon their arrival to Toronto, these same individuals are choosing to stay rather than move to the suburbs - mostly due the continuing strength of the community and its great location within Toronto.
