chinatown at a glance

Toronto has many Chinatowns, but this is perhaps the most well-known and the most visited. The area has also extended its flavourful influences--and now features not just Chinese communities, but also Korean, Thai and Vietnamese. More than a hundred restaurants, plus grocery stores, herbalists, exotic and practical consumer goods shops displaying wicker, linens and wooden carvings to name a few, can be explored here. Eateries feature food from almost all the Chinese provinces. Street signs are in Chinese and English and telephone booths resemble mini-pagodas. Nestled on the corner of Chinatown is an incredibly charming street called Baldwin Village. This eclectic location is one of Toronto's best-kept secrets and boasts an amazing variety of restaurants and sun-drenched patios.
