Cabbagetown (Toronto) is one of Toronto's trendier and most historical districts. Since the 1970s, affluent young couples have been buying up the old, rundown Victorian houses and renovating them. These are the people you'll find frequenting the neighbourhood's cozy pubs, restaurants, craft shops, antique, book and craft stores. The area's main shopping street, Parliament Street, is a mish-mash of the old and the new Cabbagetown. Here, luxury shops and boutiques are side by side with original old stores and homes. Notably, the correct name for the area is Don Vale, but the name Cabbagetown, from the habit of its first residents to grow cabbages on their front lawns has stuck.
