The Yorkdale (North York) neighbourhood is a combination of a diverse group of smaller neighbourhoods including Amesbury, Rustic, Maple Leaf, Lawrence Heights and Lawrence Manor. Most of the neighbourhoods are middle to low income areas which are popular with new immigrants. Both Amesbury and Lawrence Heights have mostly low income, public apartment buildings. Lawrence Heights is also known as the “Concrete Jungle” due to the levels of crime with the housing projects in this area. The area houses the famous Yorkdale shopping centre.
