greenfield-jane heights at a glance

Greenfield-Jane Heights (North York) is commonly referred to as “Jane and Finch” as well as “Elia” and also encompasses the Black Creek area. The population density in the neighbourhood is amongst the highest in all of Toronto due to the number of high rise buildings and its popularity amongst new immigrants because rents tend to be fairly low. It also has a very high crime rate. Black Creek Pioneer Village and the main campus of York University are immediately east of the neighbourhood and are northeast of the intersection. This area is also one of Toronto's most culturally diverse areas, home to a large Jamaican-Canadian population and significant numbers of Sikhs, Vietnamese, Somalis, Ghanaians, and Latin Americans. The single-family homes surrounding the community have a large Italian flavour.
