the danforth at a glance

The Danforth (Toronto), also known as Greektown, is a vibrant community that combines the zest of modern Mediterranean life with the distinctly historic spirit of ancient Greece. The Danforth, one of Toronto’s friendliest neighbourhoods, has many enchanting shops, boutiques, restaurants and nightclubs that entertain visitors from mid-afternoon to early morning. In spite of the huge influx of Greeks and Italians, the population of the area is still largely Anglo-Saxon, although the Greek ambiance is well embedded in the commerce of the Danforth. So strong is the Greek influence that you will find the street signs are printed in both English and Greek. Smaller neighbourhoods within the Danforth include Playter Estates and Crescent Town.
